Acceptable use policy

What is and isn't allowed on HorseLink — and what happens when the rules are broken.

Last updated 2026-04-28

1. Listings

List only horses you own or are authorised to sell. Listings must accurately describe the horse including breed, sex, age, height, training level and any known health or behavioural issues.

One listing per horse. Re-listing a horse to refresh its position in search results is prohibited; use a Featured Listing if you want premium placement.

Asking prices must be the price at which you would actually sell. Listings used as marketing for off-platform services or as bait-and-switch will be removed.

2. Animal welfare

All horses listed on HorseLink must be cared for in line with the welfare standards of their jurisdiction. Listings that depict or describe neglect, cruelty, illegal training methods or unfit-for-purpose animals will be removed and reported to the appropriate authority where required by law.

Use the Report → Animal welfare option on any listing if you have evidence of welfare concerns. Welfare reports route to a dedicated review queue with a 24-hour SLA.

3. Communication

Use the in-app messaging system for first contact. Phone numbers, email addresses, social handles and links to off-platform messengers are masked automatically until both parties have committed to a transaction.

Harassment, abuse, hate speech, threats of violence, and unwanted commercial contact are not permitted. Block-and-report is the right response to bad-faith conduct.

4. Anti-fraud and prohibited transactions

Do not attempt to circumvent escrow, hide identity from KYC, list horses you do not own, accept off-platform payment for an on-platform listing, or use HorseLink to launder funds.

Do not use stolen, leaked, or otherwise illegitimate payment instruments. We screen for chargeback patterns and cooperate with payment-network investigations.

Multi-account creation to evade suspensions, manipulate trust scores, or generate fake reviews is prohibited and will result in permanent removal of all related accounts.

5. Content rules

Photographs and videos must be of the horse you are listing, taken or licensed by you. No watermarks of competing platforms; no images scraped from registries or other listings.

No NSFW or sexually-explicit content. No content that exploits or endangers minors. No personal data of third parties published without their consent.

6. Automation and scraping

Programmatic access to HorseLink, including scraping listing data, mass-creating accounts, automated bidding, or impersonating browser sessions, is prohibited unless authorised in writing by HorseLink.

Rate limits apply to all public endpoints. Repeated abuse will trigger an IP ban and potentially civil action under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and equivalent laws.

7. Enforcement

Violations may result in: warning, listing removal, suspension of paid features, full account suspension, fund holdback against active escrows, and permanent ban.

Severe violations (welfare, fraud, child safety) bypass the warning ladder and result in immediate suspension plus reporting to law enforcement where required.

If your account has been actioned and you believe it was in error, email appeals@horselink.com within 30 days.
